Planning a move abroad? Then, #DefinitelyPTE ..

Image
The world is coming closer, what with faster travel and technology, moving abroad either for further studies or for better work prospects is always an option. More and more are now opting to study abroad for a holistic learning experience, global exposure and for the thrill of living in a new country. Be it for furthering your education or for work, one has to list out all the challenges one might face before making the move. Speaking and being in touch with fellow mates, who've gone the same route you are planning, will definitely make the whole process easier. The visa norms, passport validity, university acceptance letters, English language tests, housing, finances etc. feature on all lists.  I recall the year when a friend was applying to universities abroad- with the sheer pressure of applications, deadlines, regulations, scholarships and finances, she was left with no free time before the course started. Pearson India, decided to make one aspect of this planning easie...

Making Every Drop Count !

"You never know the worth of water until the well runs dry" Imagine, a hot summer day and you're running errands exhausted, and would give anything for a sip of cold water to refresh you. Now, imagine a similar scenario- but now, there's no water left on the planet. What would one want to consume to refresh oneself? It's a scary thought, which we are quick to dismiss giving an excuse that the situation is still a long way to go! Well, that's where we are wrong!  Out of all the water on Planet Earth, only 2-2.8% is fresh, drinking water. This small percent which currently sustains all life forms is fast depleting. Places such as Cape Town in South Africa have already run out of water. Several other cities are already heading towards this sad situation. Rajasthan, interiors of rural Maharashtra and Bihar face drought like conditions every year. Water conservation requires the efforts of each and every human being. Tiny steps towards saving water daily ...

#CleanUpCashOut this Diwali !

The age of the smart phone is gone- the smarter phone is here! Just kidding! Humans are and will be the smarter ones (I hope atleast!) Everyday I pass by billboards, announcing new models of smart phones, TV commercials and magazines carrying so many advertisements, social media campaigns on new launches etc. That is when you look at the cell device in your hand! The loyal cell phone which has lasted for about a year and a half or more, suddenly seems obsolete, scratched and you feel it’s time for a new one! Better megapixels on the camera, higher storage space, an easier UI and a sleek model- who wouldn’t want to hold a gleaming phone in one’s palm ? A cell phone is soon becoming a style statement. Well, that’s exactly what happened to me! A funny memory it is, if I look back. I was gifted my first cell phone in the first year of college- a Nokia ! I was elated! Listening to music was never easier. The poor Ipod looked forlorn and the digital camera lost its charm. ...

Faster, Cleaner, Better: Leading the Change

IndiMeets are always fun! This one especially which was held last Saturday in Mumbai in association with Berger Paints. What got me all excited was the "colors" bit- it has been years that I got my hands dirty with paint and colors, and so I eagerly looked forward to the fun afternoon. It was lovely to see some familiar faces as I entered. The Inditeam, warm as ever assisted us with all the event details. After the registration and a delicious meal at the Taj Vivanta ,where the event was being held, we seated ourselves amidst a lot of chatter and infectious positive energy in the room.  "The Stage" The host for the event, Anoop, kept us all at the edge of our seats with fun exercises and some leg-pulling. We started with musical chairs (with a twist, of course!). After warming up to some "Dancing with the Chairs", and some rounds of introductions for the new and old Indibloggers, we were all geared up for more. Bloggers were being recognized ...

Tata Sky+ Transfer Launch Event

Image
I had a rejuvenating weekend after a long long time last week. On Saturday, met up with a good friend, gorged on delicious food & chilled.  With Sunday, came the launch event of Tata Sky, which happened to be my first Indiblogger event. The  Tata Sky+ Transfer set top box (STB) was launched, a new technology which allows you to record your favorite TV shows on your set top box & hand held device (Android 4.1.2 & above or IoS 6.0 & above) & watch it anytime anywhere via the new Tata Sky App. Now, isn't that awesome? What with busy schedules, TV viewing time is mostly late in the day or during the weekends, so why miss it each weekend or download it & encourage piracy..With this new set top box, which is a first of its kinds in India, you can view the shows offline as the recording will be done automatically on the smart phone or tablet via the set top box over a WiFi connection. The Tata Sky+ STB is available nationally & is priced a...

Healthy Eating. Healthy Living.

Chopped red & yellow bell peppers, crunchy sprouts & lettuce, some soft boiled corn spiked with a dash of lime & honey. Now doesn't that sound yummy? Trust me it is. It’s not only tasty but also enriched with good vitamins, minerals & iron. The importance of eating nutritious healthy food has been stressed on since years now by our family, nutritionists, skin experts & medical practitioners. Whether you’re trying to lose weight, get in shape or just live a healthier life, eating healthy provides a variety of benefits. Increased productivity & energy as a healthy diet provides the much needed fuel to the brain which keeps it active & alert. Reduced stress levels as certain food items have the ability to moderate our body’s level of cortisol, the stress hormone. Foods packed with vitamin C, omega-3 fatty acids and magnesium help reduce cortisol levels. You'll be happier as mood boosters present in certain foods like banana act as antidepre...
